FUNDING | BAI Sound & Vision Backs 45 Television Productions

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has announced the latest funding decisions of the tenth round of its Sound & Vision II broadcasting funding scheme. Grants of approximately €7 million are to support the production of 45 television projects- all exploring the themes of Irish culture, heritage and experience. more

Moon Man
Cartoon Saloon will go into production at the end of March with a new animated feature film version of 'Moon Man'. Based on the best selling book by Tomi Ungerer, the feature will be directed by Stephan Schesch. The group is also currently working on a pilot for Disney. more

RTÉ's online drama competition StoryLand this year sees eight new dramas selected to compete for online votes with a view to having their series broadcast. FUNDING | €100,000 Investment in New Cork Screen Commission
Cork City and County Councils announced their plans yesterday, February 21st as to the establishment of a Cork Screen Commission. The launch marks an immediate investment of €100,000 in the region's indigenous film industry and the Commission will act as the primary point of contact for companies working or intending to work on location in Cork. more
DISTRIBUTION | 'Octonauts' Journey Across the Atlantic
Brown Bag Films' IFTA nominated animated series, 'The Octonauts' is to air on the Disney Channel's Disney Junior Channel across the US following a deal between sales agent Chorion and Disney. Brown Bag films are currently in development with a second series of the show.more

BROADCAST | Sky Atlantic Debuts 'Game of Thrones' April 18th
The mammoth Northern Irish production, 'Game of Thrones' will begin it's UK and Irish broadcast on Sky Atlantic on Monday, April 18th- exactly one day after its U.S. premiere broadcast on HBO. The ten part series started shooting in Belfast on July 26th 2010 and is based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling novels. more
FESTIVALS | 'The Runway' Opening Chicago Irish Film Fest April 18th
The 2011 Chicago Irish Film Festival will launch on Friday, March 4th with the Midwest U.S. premiere of Ian Power's 'The Runway'. The screening of the feature will be attended by the film's writer/director, Ian Power (Dental Breakdown) and producer, Macdara Kelleher (Colony). The festival will run until March 9th. more

CR Entertainment scooped a Kidscreen Award at an awards ceremony held in New York. The production company's TV movie, 'Aisling's Summer Diary' won the best international Teen TV Movie at the event which was held in New York's Hilton Hotel.more
