AWARDS | IFTA 2011 Nominees Announced
IFTA Nominees
IFTA has announced its shortlist of nominees in 36 categories for the 8th Annual Irish Film and Television Awards, which will take place on Saturday 12th February at The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). Films shortlisted include Juanita Wilson's 'As If I Am Not There', Tom Hall's 'Sensation' and PJ Dillon's 'Rewind' whilst the nominated dramas include Thaddeus O'Sullivan's 'Single-Handed', Dearbhla Walsh's 'The Silence' and Robert Quinn's 'Na Cloigne'. more
FUNDING | MEDIA 2010 Funding Decisions Announced
Sensation
The MEDIA Awards for 2010 resulted in almost €1.3 million being awarded to Irish Audiovisual Companies, it has been reported. The EU support programme gave funding through several schemes such as TV Broadcasting support, Development Single, Slate and Interactive, Cinema Distribution and Training. The 2011 funding deadlines have also been announced. more
BROADCAST | 'Games of Thrones' Premieres on HBO in April
Game of Thrones
The Belfast shoot of the epic fantasy series, 'Game of Thrones' recently came to an end. The post production work for the ten part series is currently being carried out in Canada and it has been announced that the HBO will premiere the epic series on April 17th with UK, Northern Irish and Irish broadcast dates still TBC. more
BROADCAST | TV3 Serves Up 'Come Dine With Me'
Come Dine With Me
TV3 and Granada London are set to produce an Irish version of 'Come Dine With Me' later this year. The producers are looking for culinary experts in Dublin. Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway to take part in the new show with the winner of each round walking away with €1,000. TV3 is currently broadcasting the UK version of the show every weekday. more
AWARDS | Posthumous RAAM Award for Michael Dwyer
The late Michael Dwyer will have his contribution to film in Ireland recognised at the RAAM Awards in London on February 9th. The RAAM awards which were established to celebrate excellence in the UK and Irish cinema and film industry and Michael's posthumous award will feature amongst these. more

PRODUCTION| Michael Gambon Turns 'Page Eight'
Filming will commence this month on David Hare's 'Page Eight' which will star Dublin born Golden Globe nominee Michael Gambon along with Bill Nighy (Love Actually), Rachel Weisz (About a Boy), Judy Davis (Naked Lunch) and Ralph Fiennes (The Reader). The drama marks the first original screenplay from Oscar nominee, David Hare (adapter of 'The Reader' and 'The Hours'), a contemporary spy thriller. more

EVENTS| Gabriel Byrne Launches 'Imagine Ireland'
Ireland's traditional and contemporary arts will be celebrated across the United States this year with more than 400 events in 40 states. The move comes with the launch of Imagine Ireland, an unprecedented celebration of Irish arts that will see more than 1,000 artists and producers stage works in 200 cities including New York, Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta and Philadelphia. more
POST-PRODUCTION | Windmill Lane Pics Put Final Touches to 'Primeval'
Windmill Lane pictures recently contributed their talents to the adventure series, 'Primeval' by providing a brand new opening title sequence, designed and executed by the in-house graphics team, and graded the full series - helping the monsters look their terrifying best. The new series, which shot in Ireland, has just started its broadcast on ITV and airs at 7pm Saturdays.. more

Ireland’s digital media companies are well placed to take advantage of the strong growth projected for the sector and will become increasingly important to the Irish economy in 2011, a report from Dublin’s Digital Hub has found.more
