PRODUCTION | Subotica Bring Features to Film In Ireland
Subotica
Subotica Entertainment is currently in pre-production with two feature films that the group will co-produce with Danish production company, Centropa in spring 2011. The films, 'A Royal Affair' and 'Flowers of Desire' will shoot in both Ireland and Denmark next year and will be directed by Nikolaj Arcel (writer, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Simon Staho (Day and Night) respectively. more
FINANCE | Mary Hanafin Reports €360 million Govt. Investment
Mary Hanafin
Minister Mary Hanafin has announced that over €360 million will be spent on capital projects across the Tourism, Culture and Sport sectors over the next four years. The minister was speaking on Wednesday, November 24th following the publication of details of the Government's National Recovery Plan. more

AWARDS | Irish Victory at International Emmys
Small Island
Irish animator Seamus Malone saw his animated series 'Shaun the Sheep' win the Young People Award at the International Emmy awards held on November 22nd whilst the Northern Ireland shot drama 'Small Island' nabbed the top prize in the TV Movie category. more

Michael Fassbender will be reunited with his 'Hunger' director, Steve McQueen in January 2011 when they commence production on the New York set of new project, 'Shame'. UK Culture Minister Ed Vaizey will make a speech on Monday, November 29th where he will announce the government's decision as to the proposed closure of the UK Film Council and the future of British film funding policy. The UK Film Council today published an updated list of projects that are to receive funding from the group, including Irish co-production, 'Grabbers'. more
BROADCAST | 'Fair City' Domestic Abuse Drama Draws Over 721,000
A recent tender process held by Cumann Lúthchleas Gael for GAA media rights for 2011-2014 has decided that RTÉ will broadcast 31 Championship games and TV3 will cover nine, totaling 40 GAA Championship matches to be broadcast live annually. more

Irish feature 'Spiderhole' will receive the first of its ROI theatrical screenings tonight, November 25th in both the Tralee Omniplex and Killarney's Cineplex on Thursday. These and other screenings have come as a result of a new distribution approach where the film's producer Patrick O'Neill approached the cinemas directly. more

NUI Galway will today be presented with a rare collection of director, writer and actor John Huston's papers and recordings at a special ceremony in the University. The Archive contains extensive material such as draft scripts, recording and publicity materials relating to a number of his films and the collection will centre on the making of 'The Dead'. more
