AWARDS | IFTA Invites Submissions for 8th Annual Awards
IFTA Awards
The Call for Entries for the 8th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards is now open. Submissions are invited for categories in film, television, shorts and animation and the deadline for receipt of submissions is Friday, November 19th at 5.30pm. The 8th Annual Awards ceremony will be held in Dublin's Convention Centre on Saturday, 12 February 2011. more
BROADCAST | Noel Curran is New Director-General of RTÉ
Noel Curran
The Chairperson of the RTÉ Board, Tom Savage announced today, November 9th that the RTÉ Board has, with the consent of the government and the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, appointed Noel Curran as the next Director-General of RTÉ. Noel succeeds Cathal Goan in the role. more
INTERVIEW | O'Domhnaill Lays Down 'The Pipe'

The Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) will host an exclusive screening of Risteard O'Domhnaill's 'The Pipe' on Thursday, November 11th for Academy members to preview the film before it goes on nationwide release on December 3rd. The director, Risteard O Domhnaill and producer, Rachel Lysaght will be in attendance at the screening and will participate in a Q&A session afterwards. more
PRODUCTION | St. Leger & Mather Go Into 'Lockout'
Lockout
Production is currently underway on the set of 'Lockout'. The film, written and directed by Irish duo Stephen St. Leger and James Mather (the creative team behind 2004 short 'Prey Alone') is shooting for eight weeks in Belgrade until mid December and stars Guy Pearce (Momento) and Maggie Grace (The Fog, Lost). The film's editing work commenced in Dublin's Windmill Lane in June 2010 and will finish in June 2011. more

FINANCE | New Rules for Eurimages Co-Production Funding 2010
From January 1st 2011, several changes will be introduced into the Eurimages Regulations for Co-Production Support. These include a requirement to have 50% of funding in place for projects by the submission deadline and will also mean that submitters will have to include a digital master copy of their project for cinema release and the option of resubmitting previously withdrawn projects is now allowed. more

BROADCAST | Irish Broadcasters Net GAA Rights
A recent tender process held by Cumann Lúthchleas Gael for GAA media rights for 2011-2014 has decided that RTÉ will broadcast 31 Championship games and TV3 will cover nine, totaling 40 GAA Championship matches to be broadcast live annually. more
