INTERVIEW | Hannigan Chats about Cork Film Fest 2010 |
The 55th Corona Cork Film Festival, Ireland's oldest film festival will take place between November 7th and 14th this year and will, in that time, screen 300 films over eight days. As previously reported the event will open with the screening of Mark Romanek's 'Never Let Me Go' and will close with Sofia Coppola's 'Somewhere' whilst international and Irish features, documentaries and shorts will all feature in between the two. We talked with festival director, Mick Hannigan about this year's line-up and the evolution of the Cork Film Festival.

EVENTS | Benefit Gig Remembers Donal Gilligan

Irish cinematographer Donal Gilligan passed away on Sunday, September 19th. Aged just 46, the two-time IFTA nominee suffered a sudden heart attack. Held in high esteem amongst his friends and colleagues within the Irish film and television industry Donal's funeral was attended by 1,200 people. A benefit gig has now been organised for Donal's wife, Charlotte and three young children.more |

TRAINING | Filmbase Hosts Hollywood Screenwriting Workshop |
In Hollywood, thousands of scripts land on the desks of producers, agents, actors and studio executives every day. In a bid to giving Irish scriptwriters an edge, Filmbase have organised a workshop with experienced story analyst/editor James Bartlett. James will talk about the business of script reading, the differences between the US and UK film industries, and the ways to break into the US market. The workshop will take place on November 19th. more |

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has published a draft version of its Strategy Statement 2011-2013 for public consultation.
