PRODUCTION | Dublin 'Must be the Place' as Sorrentino Shoot Starts

Cameras start rolling today, Monday August 16th on the set of 'This Must Be the Place'. The feature marks Italian director Paolo Sorrentino's English feature debut and will shoot on location in Dublin for the next three weeks. The film stars Oscar-winners Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River), Frances McDormand (Fargo), and musician David Byrne, alongside Irish talent Simon Delaney (Zonad, Happy Ever Afters), Olwen Fouere (Space Truckers) and newcomer Eve Hewson. more
DIGITAL | RTÉ Building €70 million Digital Network
Digital Network
A new €70 million digital network is to be built by RTÉ, the move will include the introduction of a new satellite service. The introduction of the network will further mean that RTÉ and TG4 will be available on all-Island basis for first time and it will allow for broadband spectrum to be freed up. more
BROADCAST | TV3 Unveils Autumn Schedule & Three Year Plan for Production

BROADCAST | RTÉ Keeps 'Hands On', 15th Series Commissioned
Hands On
Mind the Gap Films' series 'Hands On' has been re-commissioned for a winter transmission starting on November 14th. The 10 x 25 minute series will run again as part of RTÉ's programming for the deaf and hard of hearing community. The new series, the fifteenth of its kind, will start filming in October. more

Dublin's Helix theatre will play host to the Irish version of hit reality dating show 'Take Me Out' on TV3 this autumn. The fast-moving show sees 30 women hoping to find their match. Based in Dublin, Colaiste Dhulaigh College of Further Education has recently purchased seven GY-HM100 and two GY-HM700 camcorders for use in their three-year Communication and Media Production course. more
AWARDS | Irish Emmy Nominees Bound for LA Awards Show
The 2010 Creative Arts Emmy awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 21st followed by the Primetime Emmy awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, 29th August. The 62nd installment of the event will see Irish talent compete in six categories, namely art direction, cinematography, costume and hair and make-up for 'The Tudors' alongside Michael Gambon for his role in 'Emma' and 'Celtic Woman's David Downes for his music direction. more

The outgoing deputy, Mary Curtis begins her new role of Director of Digital Switchover in September. more
