The Board of the Irish Film Board (IFB) has announced that it will be seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive to commence at the start of January 2011. This date coincides with the ending of the five year term of appointment of the existing Chief Executive, Simon Perry who took up office in January 2006. more

Filming is ongoing on the set of a new RTÉ/BBC co-production, 'When Harvey Met Bob'. The feature length drama chronicles the lead-up to Live Aid, an event which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary and stars Domhnall Gleeson (Sensation) as Bob Geldof, Ian Hart (Five Daughters) as Harvey Goldsmith and Antonia Cambell Hughes (The Other Side of Sleep) as Paula Yates. more

PRODUCTION | Still Films Building 'Something Modern'
Morocco
Still Films will go into production with 'Build Something Modern', a feature documentary examining the peculiar history of the exportation of designs by Irish architects. Cameras will roll in and around Dublin for approximately one week starting on Friday, July 16th. more

PRODUCTION | Titian Red Looks at 'Reconstruction of Warriors'
'Song for a Raggy Boy' co-writer and co-producer, Kevin Byron Murphy is currently working on two upcoming projects. Through his production company, Titian Red Pictures, the filmmaker is to shoot two films next year, 'Reconstruction of Warriors' with Oscar nominee, Lajos Koltai (Malèna) and Northern Irish drama, 'Paperboy'. IFTN spoke to him about the upcoming films, the use of beer for holistic purposes and giving Northern Irish drama a positive spin. more
FESTIVALS | 'The Runway' Lands Best Irish Feature at Fleadh
The Galway Film Fleadh Closing Ceremony saw Ian Power's 'The Runway' take the event's Best Irish Feature title, whilst Risteard ó Domhnaill's 'The Pipe' claimed the award for Best Feature Documentary and 'Undertow' from Javier Fuentes-Leon (Espacios) was dubbed the Best First Feature. Furthermore, Fleadh co-founder Lelia Doolan was presented with the Galway Hooker award at the ceremony. more
BROADCAST | RTÉ Increases Irish Drama
Starting in September, RTÉ will launch of four brand new dramas and return of popular series such as 'Raw' and 'Single-Handed'. Viewers will have over 82 hours of new Irish drama presented to them next season as RTÉ increases its dramatic output from the same time last year. more
PRODUCTION | Filming Wraps on 'Corp & Anam'
Principal photography on the new Irish language drama 'Corp is Anam' will wrap this Friday, July 16th, in Galway after an eight week shoot. The four x one hour TG4 series, starring Diarmuid de Faoite (Padraic) and Maria Doyle Kennedy (The Tudors), tells the story of TV crime correspondent Cathal Mac Iarnáin, who determines to pursue the truth behind every story, regardless of its calamitous consequences. more
FESTIVALS | Irish Shorts at Rushes Soho Shorts Fest
Both 'The Pool' from Thomas Hefferon (Loose Change) and 'Cold Turkey' by Gavin Keane have been officially selected to screen this year at the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival in the event's International category. The title sequence from TG4 series 'Na Cloigne' has also been selected to compete at the festival in the Broadcast Design group. The festival runs from the 21st to the 31st of July. more
PRODUCTION | Michael Gambon Joins 'Dr. Who' for Christmas
Shooting is currently underway in Cardiff of an hour-long Christmas special of 'Dr Who'. Award winning Irish actor Michael Gambon (The Singing Detective, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) is to star in this year's special which sees classical singer Katherine Jenkins co-star in her acting debut. more
DISTRIBUTION | U.S. Prepares for 'Kisses'
The IFTA winning Irish feature 'Kisses', written and directed by Lance Daly (The Halo Effect), is set for release in U.S cinemas from Friday 16th July. The film has already enjoyed huge success across the Atlantic, having been officially selected for screening at festivals including Toronto and Miami where it walked away with the event's Audience Award. more
PRODUCTION | IFB Wants Filmmakers' Signatures
The deadline for the Irish Film Board's flagship short film scheme, Signatures, has been announced as Friday, September 3rd. The scheme looks to aid the making of live-action, fiction films that act as a proving-ground for Irish creative talents. more
PRODUCTION | RTÉ Seeks 'Super Crew'
Production has commenced on new RTÉ 2 production 'Super Crew'. The new series will look to out together a hip hop dance crew of youngsters aged between 13 and 17. The chosen crew members will then perform nightly in this year's Olympia pantomime alongside Jedward. more
