Mary Hanafin Appointed New Minister for Arts
Taoiseach Brian Cowen has announced Mary Hanafin will succeed Martin Cullen as the new re-branded Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport (previously Arts, Sport and Tourism). more
'Camelot' Comes to Ireland
'Camelot', a new 10 part drama series, is set to commence shooting in Ireland this summer. The drama is based on the 15th century epic King Arthur biographical novel by Thomas Malory. more
RTÉ Television MD Noel Curran Steps Down
RTÉ has announced today that the Managing Director of Television, Noel Curran, will move on from his position on Friday, May 26th. Mr Curran is leaving the organisation to pursue other interests but will continue to work in an advisory capacity with RTÉ in the future. more
Seven Irish Projects Selected for Tribeca
Seven Irish projects have been selected to screen at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. Amongst those selected are 'Cairo Time'; 'The Crush', 'My Brothers'; 'Ondine'; 'The Pool'; 'Snap' and 'Zonad'. The festival will take place this year from April 21st to May 2nd. more
Dublin Cinemagic Festival Highlights Unveiled
Organisers of the 2010 Cinemagic International Film Festival for Young People which takes place form May 5th - 12th in various venues around Dublin, have announced the highlights of the upcoming event. The festival programme will feature masterclasses with film and television industry guests, school workshops, screenings and a cross-border jury panel. more

'Alexander Pearce' Wins At European Independent Film Fest
Irish Australian drama 'The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce' has won the Best Non-European Dramatic Feature award at the 5th European Independent Film Festival in Paris. The film, set in 1820's Australia stars Irish actors Adrian Dunbar (The Crying Game) and Ciaran McMenamin (Sunday) was produced and written by Irish producer Nial Fulton (Policing the Pacific). more
RTÉ Begins Public Service Statement Compilation
RTÉ this week began a six week public consultation process to help inform the preparation a new Public Service Statement. The Broadcasting Act of 2009 requires that RTÉ prepare a Public Service Statement, the purpose of which is to explain to the public what is expected of RTÉ in return for the significant public support it receives in the form of the television licence fee. more

New RTÉ Two Children's series 'The Big Big Bazaar' begins Saturday, March 27th at 10.30am. Throughout the new series entrepreneurial children nationwide will aim to unearth hidden treasures and trash to make money for their chosen causes. more
