Richard Baneham Wins Visual Effects Title at Oscars
Dublin born animator Richard Baneham and his team last night took home the Oscar for their Visual Effects work on James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ whilst the ceremony’s prestigious Best Picture prize went, for the first time, to a female director - Kathryn Bigelow for ‘The Hurt Locker’. more
The Eclipse
The Irish Film and Television Awards saw Neil Jordan's 'Ondine' walk away with a Lead Actor Award for Colin Farrell, Supporting Actress Award for Dervla Kirwan and statuettes for Sound and Production Design. The film receives its theatrical release on Friday, March 5th, an occasion IFTN marks with a Q&A session with the film's Irish writer & director, Neil Jordan. more
‘Zonad’ Crash Lands into Irish Cinemas
‘Zonad’, a new Irish feature from John and Kieran Carney, his cinemas on Wednesday, March 17th. To mark this arrival IFTN caught up with the IFTA nominated actor who fills ‘Zonad’s latex jumpsuit, Simon Delaney, to talk Harvey Weinstein, singing to schoolgirls and having to choose between film and theatre. more
‘Triage’ Opening Belfast Festival
The 10th annual Belfast Film Festival will open with the gala Irish premiere screening of Danis Tanovic’s ‘Triage’. This year’s festival will feature screenings of Irish and World cinema works, workshops, an acting masterclass with ‘Sliding Doors’ star John Lynch, short films and documentaries. The event will run from April 15th to 30th. more

The Indian Film Festival Ireland (IFFI), Ireland’s first dedicated Indian Film Festival will take place in Swan Cinemas Rathmines from 25 - 28 June. ‘The Fading Light’ Screenings Brighten Up IFI
The Irish Film Institute will host exclusive screenings of Irish writer, director and editor Ivan Kavanagh’s award-winning ‘The Fading Light’ from March 12th to 18th. The screenings will be run as part of the Institute’s ongoing commitment to new Irish film. The film walked away with honours for both Best Irish Film and Best Actor (for Patrick O’Donnell) from the 2010 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival’s. more
Coco Television Sees Green for St. Patrick’s Day
Celebrating its 15th year, the St. Patrick's Festival takes place this year from 12 - 17 March with over one million people expected to take part in festival events in celebration of all things Ireland. Coco television and RTÉ One will bring coverage of the festival’s annual Skyfest, the St. Patrick’s Day parade and highlights of the festival’s six days and nights. more

Horses story
'Six Semesters' one of Ireland's first feature length student films, has been selected to screen in three festivals in the United States over the coming months. This follows screenings at the Galway Film Fleadh, the CCIIFF in France and the Clones Film Festival. The film, which was entirely produced by Dublin City University students in 2007-2008, is a romantic comedy about a student who breaks up couples for a living. more
