Industry Mourns TV Great Brian Waddell
Waddell Media founder and former UTV Director of Programmes, J. Brian Waddell passed away yesterday, Wednesday, December 16th. It is understood that Mr. Waddell died as a result of a heart attack following a recent minor operation. more

'Garth & Bev' Sees a Rise in Afternoon Slot Audience
'Garth & Bev', an animated series for four to eight year olds, which is produced by Kavaleer Productions, premiered on RTÉ Two's The Den on Monday, November 22nd and, following this there has been a significant increase on the average viewership for the slot (approximately 2.50pm to 3pm weekdays) which previously featured international animation. more
Irish Talent Honoured at British Comedy Awards
The British Comedy Awards saw the presentation of the Ronnie Baker Writer's Guild of Great Britain Award by Griff Rhys Jones to Graham Linehan and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Sir Terry Wogan for their outstanding work in comedy. more
Tributes Paid To Ciarán Mac Mathúna
Tributes are being paid to renowned broadcaster and music collector Ciarán Mac Mathúna who died on Friday 11 December. For over 50 years the music collector and broadcaster made a vast contribution to the preservation and development of Irish traditional music through programmes such as 'Mo Cheol Thú' and in his roles as music archiver and collector and RTÉ radio producer. more
Telegael Has The 'Zoo Factor'
Shooting nearing completion on Telegael's production, 'Zoo Factor', a new children's puppet series. A parody of popular peak time talent-search series, 'Zoo Factor' is a talent competition with a difference. It features an assortment of exotic animals as the excited contestants hoping to get their first big break in showbiz. more
Short Film Award Scheme Winners Announced
Filmbase and RTÉ have announced the winners of the second round of the 2009 Filmbase/RTÉ Short film award scheme. Three projects were chosen out of over 250 applications received earlier this year, namely 'Billy and Chuck', 'Dead Load' and 'Til Death Do Us Part' and will now receive funding. more

'Aisling's Diary' Receives KidScreen Nomination
RTÉ television series, 'Aisling's Diary' has been nominated in Tween/Teens for Best One-Off, Special or TV Movie Category of the international awards at KidScreen, one of the world's leading children's television summits. The event will be held in New York in February 2010. 'Aisling's Diary', Ireland's first cross media teen series is the only Irish program to be nominated. more
