Filming wraps on New TV3 Police Drama
Production has wrapped on TV3's first two part drama series 'The Guards'. Directed and edited by Graham Cantwell (Anton), the show is being produced by Jonathan Figgis (3 Crosses) and was written and executive produced by Steven Aldridge (Soul Traces) . more

The Call for Entries for the 7th Annual Irish Film & Television Awards is now open. Submissions are invited for categories in film, television, shorts and animation. The deadline for submissions is Monday, November 23rd at 5.30pm. more

'Kells' Enters Animation Oscar Race with US Release
GKIDS, an American distribution company that specialises in indie films for art house and family audiences, has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for Cartoon Saloon's 'The Secret of Kells'. The EFA nominated film will be released for an Academy-award qualifying limited run in December ahead of a planned wider US release in March 2010. more
Cameras Roll On 'Lapland Odyssey' Co-production
Principal Photography will get underway in Lapland on Monday, November 16th, on 'Lapland Odyssey', a co-production between Ireland's Ripple World Pictures, Finland's Helsinki Filmi Oy and Sweden's Anagram Produktion company. more

'Save the Kino' Campaign Gathers Momentum
Following news of the imminent closure of Cork's Kino Cinema, Cork Midsummer Festival Director William Galinsky set up a Facebook group called 'Save the Kino'. This group now has more than 8,000 followers and lead directly to a public meeting in Cork's Opera House and, ultimately, a mass public campaign to keep the art house cinema open. more
'Free Chips Forever' Scoops Honours at Cork
The winners of the 54th Corona Cork Film Festival's Short Film Awards - which was held on Sunday, November 8th - have been announced. Claire Dix's 'Free Chips Forever!' was named as this year's Best Irish Short Film at the awards ceremony. more
IFC Pick Up 'Cracks' U.S. Distribution Rights
The North American rights to Jordan Scott's 'Cracks' have been picked up by IFC Films. The film, which premiered in Toronto in September, will now receive a U.S. V.O.D. and cinematic release in IFC theatres. more
Short Film News: Image Now Films & Fergal Rock Enjoy Shorts Success
Image Now Films are currently in Post-Production with 'Bad Robot' and were winners at the recent Novara Film Festival; and Fergal Rock's latest short film 'Henry and Sunny' has been selected to screen at We the Peoples Film Festival in London and production will commence at the end of this month on his new project 'On Our Way'. more
'Hands On' Returns for 14th Series
'Hands On', the 14th series of the programme for the Irish Deaf and Hard of Hearing Communities returns Sunday, 15 November. The series opens with an examination of The Ryan Report in which the physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect that took place in Ireland's three schools for the Deaf was revealed. more
