Setanta Goes into Administration, Irish Base Survives
Troubled sports channel, Setanta Sports, finally went into administration last night after weeks of battling to repay mounting debts. As a result, around 200 staff are set to lose their jobs in the UK division of broadcaster, however, the Irish arm of the station will remain in operation as a 'going concern'. more
INTERVIEW: 'Father & Son' Drama Premieres on RTÉ
'Father & Son', RTE One's latest summer drama will premiere Monday June 29 at 9.30pm. A co-production between RTÉ and ITV, this four part drama which has a formidable cast of actors including Dougray Scott, Stephen Rea and Sophie Okonedo, is tipped to be rich, compelling and highly entertaining. more
Broadcasting Bill Passed In Dáil, Licence Fee Questioned
The 2008 Broadcasting Bill, which sets up a Broadcasting Authority as regulator of content, has passed all the stages of Dáil discussion and debate. Also discussed at the same meeting was a possible alternative to the licence fee. more
21st Galway Film Fleadh Programme Unveiled
The 21st Galway Film Fleadh, which runs from July 7-12, has announced this year's festival line up. The weeklong programme of world premieres special tributes, Irish and international features, documentaries and shorts will also see a host of prestigious actors, directors and filmmakers join the celebrations. more
TV3 Seeks Greater Share of BCI Funding
Falling advertisement revenues means TV3 are currently actively pursuing financial support and grants for home productions but funding in comparison to other Irish broadcasters still remains too low, says the broadcaster. more
