Saoirse Ronan Accepts Maureen O'Hara Award at Kerry Film Festival

Saoirse Ronan accepting her award in Kerry on Saturday night
Saoirse Ronan attended the Kerry Film Festival over the weekend where she was honoured with the Maureen O'Hara Award.

The ‘Byzantium’ actress was given the award which celebrates outstanding women in cinema on Saturday night.

After receiving the honour in St John's Church, Ronan said: "I had a wonderful time at the Kerry Film Festival. It was a real honour to receive the Maureen O'Hara Award and I'm delighted I got a chance to meet some of the talented filmmakers at the event. I hope to come back again soon."

A number of other awards were also handed out by the festival’s judging panel over the weekend as the Tralee section of the festival came to a close. The judging panel was comprised of Dave Fanning (Best International Short), director and producer Paul Duane (Best Documentary Short); writer, director and producer Terry George (Best Irish Short category), and Jam Media’s John Rice (Best Animated Short).
