Break Out Pictures’ So This is Christmas receives Irish theatrical release date
17 Oct 2023 : News Desk
So This Is Christmas
Break Out Pictures have announced that Ken Wardrop’s latest documentary So This Is Christmas will be released across Irish cinemas from 17th November.

So This Is Christmas will have its World Premiere at the 68th Cork International Film Festival on November 10th, shortly before its Irish theatrical release on November 17th.

The film starts during late November, as expectations of the impending festive season are growing across the country. Christmas trees are being bought, festive music turned up and presents scrambled for. So This Is Christmas follows the journeys of five ordinary characters as they navigate personal dilemmas triggered by this time of year. Amid their everyday lives and struggles are stories of resilience and bravery.

The story is brought to life in a creative documentary form, where characters’ lives interweave with a colourful tapestry of Christmas scenes. Beyond the facade of tinsel and celebration, the film explores the deeper complexities that emerge when expectations collide with reality. What transpires is a social commentary filled with humour, yet tinged with tragedy.

“I'm immensely proud and grateful to have made this film,” said director Ken Wardrop, speaking on the upcoming release. “It has been a profoundly special journey thanks to the incredible individuals who shared their stories. Their courage and resilience have been truly inspiring. I hope the film will resonate with Irish audiences and anyone grappling with the complex emotions of Christmas, reminding us all of what the festive season is really meant to be about.”

The film was produced by Andrew Freeman and Samantha Coor for Venom Films with backing from Screen Ireland, RTÉ, Coimisiún na Meán, Creative Europe MEDIA and Autlook Filmsales.

So This is Christmas will have its Irish theatrical release from November 17th.
