Screen Skills Ireland is seeking participants for its upcoming 2-day training course ‘Creating a Scene’.
The course, which takes place in Dublin in December, will be tutored by Mary Kate O’Flanagan. An award-winning screenwriter and story consultant in the European film and television industry; O’Flanagan teaches screenwriting in The UK and The US, across Europe as well as in Ireland for Screen Training Ireland among others.
O’Flanagan has written six feature-length screenplays, five of which have been optioned and supported by funding from Screen Ireland and a pilot for a television series which won the EATC Prix Europa.
Mary Kate is Ireland’s First Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth, a title she won at The Abbey Theatre in October 2015. She is also The Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth in LA, a title she won in January 2017.
This course will provide guidance to writers and creatives on:
- The Shapes of Scenes
- Creating and Sustaining Dramatic Tension Within a Scene
- Visual Storytelling
- The Use of Props and Spaces to Tell a Story
- Externalising The Internal Life of Characters
