SENIOR CG ARTIST
Windmill Lane is looking for an experienced and ambitious CG All-Star to join our VFX team for work on upcoming feature & television projects.
This role will suit a proactive artist who enjoys working in a small multidisciplinary team, is a problem solver and has passion and constant curiosity for all things CG, both technically and creatively. Experience across multiple CG disciplines is essential.
We are looking for someone with a desire and ability to lead and hopefully develop into a CG Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Work across all aspects of CG project requirements including hands on in asset prep, texturing, shaders, layout, look dev, general animation and lighting, ensuring the creation of high quality effective output for comp.
- Shot look development for complex CG shots and sequences
- Troubleshooting projects when they are challenged, working with the producers, supervisors and CG artists to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
- Mentoring other CG artists, providing feedback during projects and guiding artists in your team during projects
- Complete work within the schedule while maintaining constant communication with the production team and supervisors.
- Working closely with pipeline and supervisors to ensure technical and rendering efficiencies are maintained.
- Prioritise and revise work based on direction from supervisors
- Mentor and advise junior artists and ensure best practices are being employed
- Maintain or exceed a consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work.
- Attend dailies, develop creative approaches and proactively participate in creative problem solving.
Requirements
- VFX industry experience of 5+ years. Experience of working with a small team, such as in advertising VFX could be an advantage. Good to have leadership experience of small teams, and ambition to be a CG Supervisor.
- Proficiency in Maya essential to the role, Houdini and Mari are a plus.
- Render experience with Arnold essential and knowledge of other render engines a plus.
- Proven artistic ability across multiple CG disciplines with specialisation in lighting an advantage
- Solid knowledge/experience of all other CG disciplines including asset prep, texturing, rigging, basic animation, matchmove, rotomation, camera/object tracking and FX.
- Thorough understanding and working knowledge of VFX pipelines, production and workflows
- A strong aesthetic eye with keen attention to detail.
- Good communication, collaboration and organisational skills
- Pro-active, with an ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment
- You must be able to take direction and feedback from supervisors well, demonstrate initiative, versatility and resourcefulness and have a positive attitude. Constructive feedback and input is also welcome and expected.
- Experience working with shoot data including photographic and reference data, HDRIs, photogrammetry and Lidar an advantage.
- Good understanding of compositing with Nuke, Photoshop experience is a plus
- Proven experience developing photo-real environments
- Familiarity with Shotgun and managers such as Deadline expected
- Digital Matte Painting experience a plus
- Animation and Rigging experience a plus
We are currently working remotely and ideally would prefer if you are, or could be, Dublin-based in the future. We love and value a studio environment, although hybrid and remote working solutions will always be considered.
