Griffith College Dublin requires a TV Studio Manager
Reporting to: Head of Department
Duration: Long-term with initial 3 month trial period
Hours & Location: Full-time, based in Griffith College Dublin.
Approximate hours of worK TBC, It is expected that your availability will be flexible, within reason, based on project needs..
Applicants should have a strong interest in live TV studio broadcast and working with students. The successful individual(s) will be heavily involved in all aspects of managing a TV studio. You will provide technical support to faculty and other users of the television studios and control rooms in Griffith College Dublin.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include the monitoring, vending, maintenance and safe operation of the studios and control rooms. This includes assistance in proper setup and operation of television cameras, switching and routing systems, audio mixers, video and audio monitors, video servers, and other associated equipment as well as assisting the faculty and students when questions arise concerning systems operations. This position also involves teaching basic TV studio operating skills.
The nature of the work varies according to location and whether it is based in television, radio or teaching but tasks may include:
- Maintaining specialist equipment for video production, broadcast and interactive media;
- Setting up and monitoring audiovisual links between units in different locations
- Installing and testing new facilities and equipment
- Setting up and operating TV studio facilities classes and when the studio is hired out to third parties
- Analyzing and repairing technical faults on equipment and systems
- Minimizing loss of service when equipment fails by quickly identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision
- Developing and using awareness of best practice in health and safety for the workplace
- Interpreting and implementing instructions and requests from producers, directors and other colleagues
- Communicating effectively with members of the team and other colleagues
- Keeping up to date with the industry and changes in technology by building and maintaining a network of contacts and investigating new systems and techniques.
