Under the authority of the Head of Department for Information on Markets and Financing of the European Audiovisual Observatory, the incumbent will provide scientific assistance and support to projects related to the observation and analysis of the film industry, in compliance with guidelines and priorities, and with a concern for quality, efficiency and accuracy.
The incumbent performs all or a combination of the following duties:
- contributes to the preparation, data collection and primary processing for the publication Yearbook Film, Television,
- On-demand audiovisual services and Video in Europe and for the Internet site (www.obs.coe.int) of the Observatory;
- carries out main editorial work of reports on the economy and policy of the film industry;
manages the data collection and maintains the KORDA database on public funding for film and audiovisual works in Europe;
- participates in Secretariat tasks of the European Film Agency Research Network (EFARN);
- undertakes research for and contributes to ad hoc publications, including methodological documents and inter-disciplinary projects (legal/market);
- prepares presentations, communications and papers for conferences and seminars and presents work results of the Department for Information on Markets and Financing;
- prepares press releases and contacts with journalists as to content related matters;
- participates in meetings, takes minutes and follows up on actions agreed upon;
- contributes to further developing the scope of work and competences of the Department for Information on Markets and Financing;
- reports to the Head of the Department for Information on Markets and Financing on the results achieved and on the problems encountered.
Essential Skills
- appropriate higher education;
- a post-secondary qualification in economy, business, political sciences, communication, would be an advantage;
- professional expertise : three years of relevant experience in the field of research in the drafting of studies on the film industry and/or management of databases related to the film industry;
- good knowledge of European film and audiovisual markets and information sources, in particular good knowledge of the complete value chain of the film industry (public and private financing, production, distribution, exhibition, home video, VoD;
- proficiency in data-collection and research using new technologies (Internet, electronic databases, etc.);
- sound computer skills of standard tools in office applications (word processing, spreadsheet, databases, presentations
);
- very good knowledge of IT-facilities;
