The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA), in association with the John Ford Estate, recently established JOHN FORD IRELAND, which will lay the foundations for honouring, examining and learning from the work and legacy of legendary filmmaker John Ford, who is widely regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers of his generation. An annual JOHN FORD IRELAND SYMPOSIUM, the first of which will take place in Dublin during JUNE 2012 will celebrate Fords ongoing influence on contemporary Cinema worldwide and will engage with filmmakers and film enthusiasts throughout the world. The Academy is currently seeking an experienced Researcher for John Ford Ireland.
Responsibilities will include; .
- Carrying out daily research on international Ford archives, films, themes, links and other background information
- Communicating and Liaising with international filmmakers, studios, colleges/universities.
- Working with Committee reps and Management in assisting with co-ordination the Symposium programme.
- Organising and scheduling Committee meetings and conference calls.
- Assisting with mail-outs re John Ford Ireland.
- Reporting directly to management with progress reports.
The ideal candidate;
- Degree holder of Third Level / Film Studies / Arts Administration
- Experience in a Research role is essential (within the film industry ideally, but not essential)
- Appreciation and very good understanding of general history of Cinema, film genres, themes,
- Experience working for a Film Festival is helpful but not essential
- Proficient in Word & Excel & Online search/research etc
