The feature film ‘3 Crosses’ has been in production since February 2003 in North America and has intermittently been shooting in Ireland and the USA since that time. ‘3 Crosses’ is a dark tale of two brothers, Jonnie and Jay Linski, whose turbulent relationship takes a turn for the worst in the aftermath of the murder of their younger brother Danny. It is the debut feature film from writer/director Jason Figgis and is produced by Jonathan through their Dublin based production company October Eleven Pictures. The film has a large ensemble cast of young actors including Karl Hayden (Patriot Games), Emmet Scanlan(The Big Bow Wow), Marian Araujo (Dead Meat) and Keith Duffy (Coronation Street). Paranormalist Uri Gellar features in a cameo role and the producers are currently in talks with singer Samantha Mumba to take a part.
The long production schedule has been an advantage to the filmmakers. ‘They (actors) heard about the film over time and became interested in what we were doing…whereas some films spend 18 months in pre-production and development we have spent 18 months shooting, it’s great and it has worked out really well for us,’ says producer Jonathan Figgis. The characters are “underworld animals” according to Jonathan and has a number of shocking scenes including a 10 minute stunt sequence co-ordinated by World Stunt Award nominees Joe and Patrick Condren.
In addition to ‘3 Crosses,’ October Eleven Pictures are also involved in a number of factual documentary projects. Jason is currently shooting a feature length documentary with UK based production company Dragonfly Films about the King’s Head Theatre in London. Dragonfly director Stephanie Sinclair is co-directing.
October Eleven Pictures have also teamed up with paranormalist Uri Gellar to form XI Pictures. Together they plan to develop a number of documentaries based upon the paranormal and spiritual world . Their first production for Sky One, a two part special with UK based Lion Television is in pre-production.
