On Tuesday 22nd of September, Irish Film & Television Academy honoured one of Ireland’s most significant broadcast journalists at a special IFTA Tribute event. Entitled ‘Cathal O’Shannon – A Life in Television.
Present at the event were IFTA members and Invited guests including actor Niall Tobin, Fionnula Flanagan, Paul Cusack, Tom McGurk, ex-Irish Film Censor John Kelleher, BAI Chief Executive Michael O’Keeffe and a broad range of Cathal’s Academy peers and industry colleagues.
Cathal’s friend, former colleague and Lifetime IFTA Member Gay Byrne lead the Academy’s tributes to the legendary broadcaster and hosted an intimate “In conversation…”.
