This documentary follows 3 Irish athletes over 6 months in their build up to the Special Olympics in Dublin 2003. It documents them training for the biggest event in their sporting lives, and in their everyday world of disability. One thing they all share is a hunger to win.
In June 2003, Ireland hosted the world’s largest sporting event of the year when, for the first time ever, the Special Olympics took place outside of the USA. Ireland was host to teams and individuals from over 160 countries – individuals who, for years, dreamed of competing in the Games and representing their country. All of those who qualified for the Games in 2003 had one thing in common – they all had some form of learning disability.
