Now in its 13th year the annual Darklight Festival is Ireland's foremost showcase for cutting-edge art, film and technology, each year bringing exciting new work to its audiences. This year Darklight moves to its new home in The Factory on Barrow Street at Dublin's Grand Canal Dock. This year's festival theme is 'Strictly Roots' as Darklight celebrates 'the spirit of grassroots filmmaking, how friends and communities come together, and against the crazy backdrop of global financial meltdown and still manage to make moving, hilarious, challenging and kick-ass films.' IFTN has two season passes, giving you full access to all of the events at this year's Darklight festival, to give away to a lucky reader!
Highlight for this year's festival include:
* Spotlight on Docs: Full line up of feature length documentaries, chosen by guest programmer Hussain Currimbhoy; curator of the Sheffield Doc/Fest
* 3-D.I.Y.: A symposium of workshops and discussions on the democratization of 3D techniques, programmed by Gavin Kelly and Caroline Campbell * SFX Unplugged: Coatwolf studios, producers of the critically acclaimed Bellflower will be on hand to talk about their extraordinary DIY special effects skills. * Arcs, Folds: A new exhibition from Anita Delany And of course the Darklight opening and closing parties in The Factory on Barrow street on Thursday 20th and Saturday 22nd of October respectively.
