In the run up to Christmas, we have invited some of Ireland’s leading Film & TV talents to take part in IFTN’s festive Q&A.
Earlier this year, Roisin Gallagher was IFTA-nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Drama for The Dry. She also starred in new rom-com series The Lovers, written by Northern Irish playwright David Ireland, in which she starred alongside actor Johnny Flynn.
Gallagher’s other screen credits include The Fall, Nowhere Special, and Mandrake. She has an extensive acting career in theatre, and in 2017 wrote her first play Natural Disaster which was then staged in The MAC in Belfast.
IFTN: What was your highlight of 2023?
ROISIN: “Filming the second series of The Dry by Nancy Harris (and of course attending the IFTAs for the first time.)”
IFTN: What are you most looking forward to working on in the New Year?
ROISIN: “I’m not sure exactly what the year will hold for me but I’m looking forward to finding out!”
IFTN: What was your favourite film of 2023?
ROISIN: “Barbie.”
IFTN: What Irish talent have you been impressed with over the past 12 months?
ROISIN: “I really loved Blue Lights, the writing, the cast and the direction were all first class.”
IFTN: What International talent would you most like to work with?
ROISIN: “Helena-Bonham Carter.”
IFTN: What two film/television personalities would you most like to have dinner with and why?
ROISIN: “Anthony Hopkins and Sharon Horgan.”
IFTN: What’s your favourite movie to watch on Christmas day?
ROISIN: “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
