RTÉ News has announced the appointment of its Europe Editor, Sean Whelan, as Economics Correspondent.
Sean graduated with a degree in History and Politics from UCD, followed by a postgraduate diploma in journalism at NIHE, Dublin.
He became a journalist in the RTÉ Newsroom in September 1991 and worked in a number of areas including the Foreign Desk. He reported from the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo and on the return of Hong Kong to China. He has been based in Brussels since 1999 and has been Europe Editor since 2003.
