Colin Farrell to receive Outstanding Talent Award at Richard Harris International Film Festival
05 May 2022 : News Desk
Irish Actor Colin Farrell to be honoured.
October 2022 will see the Richard Harris International Film Festival (RHIFF) return to the Irish festival circuit and celebrate its tenth birthday in person this year.

To mark the occasion of the festivals return, last month RHIFF was represented by festival director Zeb Moore at the launch of the 2022 Global Irish Festival Series in the New York Irish Consulate.

The Global Festival Series, which includes events from Limerick (RHIFF and Pig Town), Kerry, Mayo, and Donegal, was launched by the Deputy Consul General Seán Ó hAodha, Helena Nolan, and Colm Brophy TD, Minister of State for the Diaspora.

Speaking in New York, Moore said: “From humble beginnings in 2013, when we screened 10 films, to screening 120 films the last time we met in person in 2019, the festival continues to grow. After a two- year Covid imposed hiatus and virtual shows, we are delighted to be back meeting in person this October and we have special plans in place to celebrate our tenth birthday".

The Virtual Awards Show for the Covid-disrupted 2021 festival are due to take place this Friday, May 6th at 8 pm on the RHIFF's YouTube channel. The highlight of the show will be a special presentation to legendary Irish actor Colin Farrell (The Batman, Tigerland) during the virtual show.

"We feel this is an award that Richard would approve, not least because both Richard and Colin were part of the Harry Potter Universe, but since Colin's breakout role in Tigerland, up to his brilliant performance in The Batman, we have followed his career with pride and we are honoured he will accept this award virtually,” said Festival chair Rob Gill. "We are extremely grateful for the continued support of Limerick City and County Council; Failte Ireland, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and are looking forward to welcoming new friends and old to Limerick this October".

The 10th edition of the in-person festival takes place in Limerick this October 26th – 31st.
