IFTA winning actor, Gerard McSorley will host a Cork Film Festival Masterclass on Saturday, November 13th. The half day event is open to emerging actors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in acting for the screen and Gerard will guide participants through various topics such as Motivation, Script analysis and auditions.
The early part of Gerard’s career was spent on the stage, including a number of acclaimed performances at the Abbey Theatre before he started concentrating more on screen acting. He received an IFTA win for his role in 2004 TV movie, ‘Omagh’. He has been further nominated by the academy for his roles in ‘Trapped’ in 2008, ‘Middletown’ in 2006 and ‘Veronica Guerin’ in 2003. He also received the Royal Television Society Television award and the Monte Carlo TV Festival Golden Nymph in 2004 for ‘Omagh’. His other film credits include ‘Inside I’m Dancing’, ‘The Constant Gardener’, ‘Ordinary Decent Criminal’, ‘Angela’s Ashes’ and ‘Agnes Brown’.
The Masterclass attendees will receive guidance in the areas of script analysis and acting motivation as well as learning the differences between screen and stage acting. Gerard will also examine the audition process and how best to approach an audition.
