The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the nominations for the 20th British Academy Children’s Awards, which honour the very best in children’s media – with ‘Lily’s Driftwood Bay’ from Belfast based Sixteen South among the list of nominees.
‘Lily’s Driftwood Bay’ is up against ‘The Clangers’, ‘Hey Duggee’ and ‘Peppa Pig’ in the Pre-School Animation category.
It has been a good week for all involved with the series as ‘Lily’s Driftwood Bay’ last week won the IFTA Award for Best Animation – in a category that included ‘Bing’ from Brown Bag Films, Geronimo’s ‘Nelly and Nora’ and Cartoon Saloon’s ‘Puffin Rock’.
Set on the fictional, rugged Island of Arranish, ‘Lily’s Driftwood Bay’ is an animation series about a little girl who creates an imaginary world from treasures she finds washed up on the beach. The series received funding from the Northern Ireland Screen Fund supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The BAFTA Children’s Awards ceremony will be held at the Roundhouse, London, on Sunday 22nd November and will be hosted by Doc Brown.
