Element Pictures Distribution has announced the North American DVD, Blu-ray and On Demand release of ‘John Ford: Dreaming The Quiet Man’ on March 24.
In this documentary narrated by Gabriel Byrne, viewers are given a unique glimpse inside the making of the classic ‘The Quiet Man’. In ‘John Ford: Dreaming The Quiet Man’, director Sé Merry Doyle explores the tenacity of director John Ford and his twenty-year struggle to bring his classic film ‘The Quiet Man’ to the screen.
A worldwide box-office sensation, ‘The Quiet Man’ received Academy Awards in 1953 for Best Director (John Ford) and Best Cinematography (Winton C. Hoch and Archie Stout). The film’s star, Maureen O’Hara received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards on November 8, 2014.
‘John Ford: Dreaming The Quiet Man’ was nominated for Best Documentary by the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) in 2013. Doyle’s documentary features interviews with film notables including leading lady Maureen O’Hara and directors Martin Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovich and Jim Sheridan, who all share the indelible impact that the film has had on their lives and careers.
This revealing behind-the-scenes look at the making of Ford’s classic is highlighted with rare and never-before-seen home movies documenting the cast and crew’s time filming in Ireland.
