Eclipse Pictures is releasing ‘Kelly + Victor’ today 20th September across Dublin in the Irish Film Institute (IFI), Light House Cinema, Screen Cinema and IMC Dun Laoghaire.
Produced by Andrew Freedman, Screen Daily described the film: “the beautifully intense Kelly + Victor is driven with such passion and commitment that it cries out for attention. With a wonderful sense of location and featuring a series of memorable performances this tale of tough and transgressive love seems marked to get that attention, and should well appeal to distributors of challenging yet satisfying material.”
“Sensual, provocative and dangerously romantic”, the film is based on the acclaimed novel by Niall Griffiths, the film stars English actor Julian Morris (24 Hours, ER) and IFTA-nominated Northern Irish actress Antonia Campbell-Hughes (The Other Side of Sleep, Breakfast on Pluto).
Directed by Kieran Evans, the film follows the story of a titular couple who meet on the dancefloor of a Liverpool nightclub and consequently embark on a journey filled with drugs, alcohol, and violence.
The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin Texas on back in March 2013.
Cinematographer Piers McGrail made his feature film debut as Director of Photography for the Irish/UK co-production.
Producers on the feature are Andrew Freedman of Venom Films - the production company behind Ken Wardrop’s IFTA winning documentary ‘His & Hers’ - and Janine Marmot (‘Bodysong’, ‘Made in Heaven’) for UK based Hot Property Films.
The project was funded by the Irish Film Board, the Film Agency for Wales and Domino Publishing Company, and was co-developed by Film4 and Hot Property Films.
