Love/Hate nominated for two awards at Monte Carlo
25 Apr 2013 : By Gearóid Gilmore
The critically acclaimed crime-drama series, ‘Love/Hate’, has received two nominations at the Festival de Television de Monte-Carlo.

The RTÉ series continues to receive international acclaim and recognition as the show has been nominated in the ‘Best International Drama TV Series’ and ‘Best European Drama TV Series’ categories. The show will be in competition with several international best-selling series, including ‘Borgan III’, ITV’s ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Doctor Who’, and American TV series ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Homeland’.

‘Love/Hate’ has been a phenomenal success thus far for RTÉ, as nearly a million people tuned in to watch the final episode of season three last December. The series, which stars Robert Sheehan, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Peter Coonan, and Charlie Murphy, has also been a consistent ratings winner for RTÉ.

The series picked up six awards at this year’s IFTAs, including ‘Best Actor TV’, which went to Tom Vaughan-Lawlor for his portrayal as crime lord Nidge, and ‘Best Actress TV’, which went to Charlie Murphy. The series has also been picked by television networks in Scotland and Australia.

Established in 1961 by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, the prestigious Monte Carlo Television Festival is the world’s largest forum for television films and serials, news stories, and news programs. Its main prize and symbol is the Golden Nymph, a golden copy of the ‘Salamacis’ Nymph, the original of which is on show at the Louvre in Paris. The festival takes place in Monaco from June 9th-13th.
