Dublin based director and writer Fergal Rock’s (Henry and Sunny, Tom Waits Made Me Cry) screenplay ‘Calvin and Skye’ has been named a semi-finalist in the Francis Ford Coppola 9th Annual American Zoetrope Screenplay competition.
The finalists and semi-finalists, announced yesterday, were picked by Francis Ford Coppola and the American Zoetrope team. The finalists were chosen from over 2,500 screenplays. ‘Calvin and Skye’ charts the unlikely friendship between hypochondriac Calvin and terminally-ill teenager Skye.
The $5,000 grand prize in the competition went to ‘The Sun God at Dawn, Rising from a Lotus Blossom’ by Andrea Lee Kail. The winner and top-ten finalists will now be considered for representation and have their scripts considered for film option and development by leading production company.
