Sheehan & Cox
A new film ‘I Was Bono’s Doppelganger’ based on music journalist Neil McCormick’s autobiography is mooted to shoot in Dublin, Belfast and London this August. Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Cherrybomb) and Brit actor Charlie Cox (Stardust) are set to feature with Belfast director Nick Hamm (The Hole) directing.

The music-based comedy will recount the story of how the McCormick dabbled with his brother’s chance of becoming a member of U2. Cox is confirmed to play Neil, while Sheehan will play his brother Ivan. Sheehan has recently finished filming the big budget ‘Season of the Witch’ with Nicolas Cage.

Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais who previously worked on bringing Roddy Doyle’s ‘The Commitments’ to the screen have penned the script with additional material by Simon Maxwell and Tony Roche. Actors Romola Garai (Atonement), Bill Nighy (Love Actually) and Pete Postlethwaite (In the Name of the Father) are to also feature.

Producers involved include Mark Huffam of NI based Generator Entertainment, U2’s former agent Ian Flooks and Piers Tempest at the UK production company Salt. Liz Gallagher (Layer Cake) will provide the music supervision for Cutting Edge with music producer Mike Hedges. James Flynn from Dublin’s Octagon Films will executive produce.
