CR Entertainment scooped a Kidscreen Award at an awards ceremony held in New York. The production company’s TV movie, ‘Aisling's Summer Diary’ won the best international Teen TV Movie at the event which was held in New York’s Hilton Hotel.
The event was held during the weekend and looks to put the industry's best work on high-profile display during the Kidscreen Summit. KidScreen is the biggest north-American market for pre-school and Kids TV Programming.
‘Aisling's Summer Diary’ originally broadcasted on RTÉ in January 2010 and tells the Adventures of diary-keeper, Aisling and her friends during the Summer Holidays. This recent Kidscreen award win follows the Award that the group’s TV Series, ‘Aisling’s Diary’ received at the 2010 Kidscreen awards, which in turn came after the two IFTA nominations in 2009 and 2010 and a C21 best Format nomination at Cannes for the series.
The TV series, and original format of the show, ’Aisling's Diary’ was broadcast in 2008 on RTÉ and then extended With a ‘Aisling's Diary Holiday Special’. A second season broadcast in late 2009. Internationally, ‘Aisling's Diary’ has been sold by CR Entertainment to ABC Australia and SVT in Sweden.
Speaking at CR Entertainments office in Dublin, Series Producer Triona Campbell commented on the recent win, saying: The series has also been broadcasted in Australia and Sweden and it proves that Irish television content, can cross borders and that there is not just a local but an international audience for these types of programs.The award really proves that Ireland can and is producing world class Kids TV programming and that's something we plan on doing more of in 2011."
