Filmbase / RTÉ short film ‘Tart’ wrapped filming this week on location in Louth, Newry and Mourne. Written and directed by Mairtin de Barra, the film stars Brian McGrath (PS I Love You, Stardust), Orla Fitzgerald (The Wind that Shakes the Barley, Love is the Drug), Michael Patric (the Running Mate) and Gerry Shanahan (W.C.).
‘Tart’ is a character piece based on the failing memory of an Alzheimer’s patient and his fight to retain his personality. He lives in happy remembrances and his one true love - when he can remember them.
The €10,000 budget film is produced by Steven Davenport, Rachel Lysaght, and Cathleen Dore through Underground Films. DOP is Stephen Murphy.
"We assembled a really strong cast and crew for this,” said de Barra. “We put a lot into finding just the right people for the job and our patience has been rewarded. The shoot went really well and everything ran smoothly."
‘Tart’ was shot with the aid of the New Media Factory and the Louth, Newry & Mourne Film Commission.
The New Media is a cross-border media training project and runs courses in practical set skills, post, production and film business.
