Feature documentary ‘Seaview’, the debut film of Dublin production company Still Films, will have its world premiere screening in the Forum section of the Berlin Film Festival, taking place from. 7th-17th February 2008.
‘Seaview’ gives an insight into the day to day life of asylum seekers living in the former Butlin’s holiday camp at Mosney, Ireland.
The doco is directed by Darklight Festival director Nick Gogan and artist Paul Rowley, who also produced with Maya Derrington (The Master’s Apprentice, Wanderlust). The filmmakers spent time living at Mosney over the past three years, and the documentary features the asylum seekers’ stories of trauma, hope and fear of deportation.
“Every Irish person remembers spending holidays at Mosney and it’s incredible to see this familiar setting now used for a different purpose that still seems to resonate with so many of our pasts,” says director Nicky Gogan. “The residents of Mosney each have their own story to tell, from the tragic to the heartwarming.”
Still Films have also been awarded development financing for a number of other documentaries and features films under the Irish Film Board’s ‘Multi Project
Development’ scheme earlier this year.
