Galway Film Fleadh ( 9 - 14 July)

The Galway Film Fleadh - Ireland's leading film festival is a six day international film event held every July and welcomes a diversity of filmmaking from around the world. The Fleadh is very much a film lovers' festival, and attracts directors, actors, cinematographers and artists of all generations and cultural backgrounds. Now in its 25th year!

Edinburgh International Film Festival (19 - 30 June)

Established in 1947, the Edinburgh International Film Festival is renowned around the world for discovering and promoting the very best in international cinema - and for heralding and debating changes in global filmmaking. Intimate in its scale, ambitious in its scope, and fuelled by pure passion for cinema in all its manifestations, EIFF seeks to spotlight the most exciting and innovative new film talent, in a setting steeped in history. John Banville’s The Sea premieres at this year’s festival.

Cinema Release of the Week

Citadel (2013) 84 mins

Written and directed by Ciarán Foy, ‘Citadel’ is a deeply personal film inspired by a traumatising event during the directors own childhood. 

The main character, Tommy, is forced to confront agoraphobia following an assault on his pregnant wife by hooded teenagers. Citadel will is a Blinder Films production and will be distributed by Wildcard Distribution.

Life's a Breeze(2013) 90 mins

Life’s a Breeze is a feel-good “recession comedy” about a family struggling to stay afloat and stay together despite the hard times in Ireland. The plot revolves around Colm, played by Pat Shortt, his aging mother, (Fionnula Flanagan) and his niece Emma, (Kelly Thornton) who must overcome their differences to lead their family in a race against time to find a lost fortune. Life’s a Breeze features the creme de la creme of Irish acting talent with performances from  Eva Birthistle, Gerry McCann, Philip Judge, Lesley Conroy, Peter Coonan, Brian Gleeson, Paul Ronan, and a sparkling performance from newcomer Kelly Thornton. Life’s a Breeze will be distributed by Wildcard Distribution.
