Galway Film Industry and Galway City Secure the Status of UNESCO City of Film

UNESCO Director-General, Ms Irina Bokova, has announced from Paris that Galway has been designated a UNESCO City Of Film. Under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Galway is now one of only five cities in the world to achieve this much sought-after status, joining Sydney, Australia and Galway’s twin city of Bradford in the UK as a designated City of Film.

Animated Feature ‘The Breadwinner’ to Start Production in April 2015

Financing is being completed now for the animated feature ‘The Breadwinner’, based on Deborah Ellis’ bestselling novel with Kilkenny-based studio Cartoon Saloon (‘The Secret of Kells’, ‘Song of the Sea’) partnering with Canada’s Aircraft Pictures (‘Cybergeddon’, ‘Todd & The Book of Pure Evil’) to make the animated family feature.
