After 141 films were submitted this year for the live-action short film Academy Award, ten live-shorts have been selected for consideration for the Oscar. The shortlist was chosen by the Academy’s short films and feature animation branch reviewing committee. Branch members will now select three to five nominees from among the 10 titles on the shortlist

Irish language TV drama ‘Corp is Anam’ makes its highly anticipated return to the small screen next Thursday. The series follows a crime correspondent as he uncovers the corruption in Ireland’s crime and legal systems. The 4x1 hour series is produced by Magamedia for TG4.

Zodiak Rights, the international division of Zodiak Media, and Northern Ireland producer Stirling Television have signed an all-genre first-look deal agreement. Zodiak Rights already represent Stirling’s Irish dancing series ‘Jigs & Wigs’ (BBC One Northern Ireland/RTE, 6 x 30’).

‘The Snackbox Sessions’, a networking event for filmmakers by filmmakers about the business of filmmaking, will be hosting their winter session next week. The event shines a spotlight on an innovative group of independent filmmakers.

The 3rd Annual Subtitle European Film Festival, Ireland’s only film festival of subtitled European film, runs from Monday, November 24th until Sunday, November 30th in Kilkenny.

The Royal Television Society Craft and Design Awards, which are chaired by CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor, recognise the skills and processes involved in programme production, including editing, lighting, costume design and digital effects. Irish talent has once again been celebrated through nominations for the prestigious awards.
