RTÉ Drama and the Irish Film Board today announced the commission of five new original dramas for the new season of Storyland.

Minister Humphreys was welcomed by IFTA CEO Áine Moriarty at an Industry Breakfast this morning, Thursday 30th, giving members of the sector the opportunity to meet with the Minister for Arts for the first time.

The founding of TG4 started as a long campaign by Irish language activists and others to have a separate TV channel in the Irish language, similar to what Wales had accomplished in the 1980s.

Series 1 of CBBC series 'All at Sea', a comedy for six-twelve year olds, has been nominated for the 2014 Kids' BAFTAS in the category of Best Comedy.

Shot in Dublin and co-produced by Irish production company Subotica, the biopic 'All is By My Side' out in cinemas now. Based on the life of Jimi Hendrix (played by Outcast's Andre Benjamin), the feature is is directed and written by '12 Years a Slave' writer John Ridley.

The new series of Tiger Aspect and Lookout Point's period crime drama 'Ripper Street' will return on Amazon Prime Instant Video on 14 November.

This week, RTÉ launches a new season of programmes on RTÉ One which will explore aspects of - and attitudes towards - death in today's Ireland.

Oscar-winning director Andrea Arnold and BAFTA-winning producer Andrew Eaton will join a host of film industry luminaries at the Foyle Film Festival's free two-day 'From Shorts to Features' conference next month, held in association with Honeycomb – Creative Works.
