The Irish Film Board has announced its most recent funding loan awards for the period of January to June 2013 - across a wide range of categories including production loans for films, animation and documentaries; development loans and distribution loans.

The Irish feature film 'Get up and Go', produced by Fastnet Films with funding from the Irish Film board, has wrapped principal photography this week after filming all across Dublin's city centre over the last three weeks.

The Irish Film Board and the Galway Film Fleadh have announced this year's line-up for 'The Real Deal' film conference, which will be held on Thursday 11th July at the Veranda Bar, Radisson Blu Hotel in Galway.

Northern Irish filmmaker Mary McGuckian is currently in pre-production on a biopic of hugely influential Irish architect and designer Eileen Gray, starring Shannyn Sossamon in the lead role- with a kickstarter campaign in motion to rebuild Gray's French villa for the shoot.

Belfast filmmaker Maeve Murphy - writer and director of 'Beyond the Fire' and 'Amazing Grace' - has begun filming her latest feature 'Taking Stock' with model and actress Kelly starring in the lead role.

Dublin director Graham Cantell's romantic comedy 'The Callback Queen' - about an actress struggling to resist her director's advances- will have its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh on 10th July.

Low budget Irish horror film 'Revenant', co-written and co-produced by Sean Smith and Lauren Murphy, wrapped filming today after an eleven day shoot that took in locations in Cavan and Fermanagh.

Filmbase students of the Masters in Digital Feature Film Production have seen their graduating film 'How to be Happy' sell out its first screening at the Galway Film Fleadh this year and receive another to meet demand - scheduled for Sunday 14th July, the closing day of the festival.

Irish representation is strong among the nominees for this year's TV Choice Awards, set to take place in London in September, with seven nominations in total for Irish programmes, stars and co-productions.

'Game of Thrones' and 'Love/Hate' star Aiden Gillen stars in Ciaran Creagh's directorial debut 'The Note', a short film which will receive its premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in the Town Hall theatre on Saturday 13th July.

Achill Island director Des Kilbane will see two versions of his documentary 'Croí Trodach- A Fighting Heart' screen at the Galway Film Fleadh - in Irish on Saturday 13th July and in English on Sunday 14th July.

The Creatives in Animation Network, founded by Irish writer and animation pioneer Lindsay Jane Sedgwick, will hold its second event of 2013 at the Galway Film Fleadh, in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Friday 12th July from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

The Huston School of Film & Digital Media will host a selection of free screenings of human rights films this Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th July- as part of the 'Films That Matter' series, presented by the Galway One World Centre and Amnesty International.

'Under the Hood', an Irish documentary examining the hardships of life in Belarus, will have its Dublin premiere in the IFI this Sunday 7th July- followed by a Q&A with one of its directors Mark Byrne.
