Stephen Daldry Delivering Fleadh Directors' Masterclass

Robert Quinn Turns ‘Primeval’
08 Jun 2010 | Robert Quinn, the only Irish director involved with the fourth season of the sci-fi caper, ‘Primeval’ currently in production in Ireland recently spoke with IFTN from the set of the popular sci-fi series. Award winning director of programmes such as ‘Na Cloigne’, ‘Seacht’ and ‘Rasai na Gaillimhe’, Robert is currently in the process of shooting the 5th and 6th episode of the show’s fourth series.

Radharc Awards 2010 Invites Submissions
03 Jun 2010 | The Radharc Trust has announced details of the Radharc Awards 2010. The awards feature two categories – one for documentaries broadcast on any channel on the island of Ireland and another for non-broadcast documentaries produced for digital media in Ireland. The closing date for all entries is Friday 10 September 2010 at 5.00pm and the winning entries will be announced at a lunchtime gala in Dublin in October 2010.

Declan Cassidy Plans 'Do Not Pass Go'

Ray Winstone For 'Three Days in Dublin'
01 Jun 2010 | Ray Winstone (Nil By Mouth, The Departed) will arrive in Dublin this September for the shooting of new romantic comedy, ‘Three Days in Dublin’. Irish co-producers Zanzibar films will also go into co-production with 'Apples and Oranges ' in September.

Teens Invited to Submit TV Comedy Ideas
31 May 2010 | RTÉ Young Peoples brand new ‘Swede Me’ competition is offering teens the opportunity to make and star in their own TV comedies about the “teen types” around them. Budding programme makers aged between 12 and 17 are invited to submit ideas for a RTÉ mini TV drama.

Rupert Howell Leaves ITV
28 May 2010 | Rupert Howell is to step down from his position as a Director of ITV plc on Tuesday, June 1st and as Managing Director of ITV Brand and Commercial at the end of July. He joined ITV in October 2007 and was appointed to the Board in February 2008.

Students Going Wild at Film School

‘Mo’ Sweeps BAFTA TV Craft Boards
25 May 2010 | The Northern Ireland shot biopic, ‘Mo’ which chronicles the life of the late Labour MP and former Northern Ireland Secretary, Mo Mowlam came away from last night’s BAFTA craft awards clutching three awards whilst Guy Hibbert was lauded for his script for ‘Five Minutes of Heaven’ and ‘Small Island's Martin Phipps won the best Original Televison Music Award.

Jim Sheridan Says ‘Shanghai I Love You’

'The Last Furlong' Starts Filming in Ireland
13 May 2010 | Cameras started to roll of the set of feature film, ‘The Last Furlong’ on Monday, May 10th. The film, which stars Rachel Hurd-Wood (Peter Pan, Dorian Gray) and Harry Treadaway (Fishtank), will shoot on location in Wicklow and Meath for the next eight weeks.

Pulling Focus on Robbie Ryan
11 May 2010 | Robbie Ryan decided he wanted to be a cinematographer at the age of 14 when he, his friends and his cousins commandeered one of his father’s Kodak Super 8mm camera and started making short films. A college course in cinematography in Dun Laoghaire’s IADT fuelled that passion and he is now established as one of Ireland’s most influential filmmaking exports. IFTN caught up with the cameraman to talk about the pitfalls of creative partnerships, cat-like cameras and shooting Dizzee Racal in an old folk’s home.
