Jim Sheridan To Sit On Tribeca Judging Panel
17 Apr 2012 | Irish director Jim Sheridan will be amongst the competition jurors at the Tribeca Film Festival, which begins tomorrow (April 18) in New York City. The ‘In America’ and ‘My Left Foot’ director is amongst 39 jurors, selected from a diverse group of filmmakers, writers, producers, actors, critics and business leaders.

Luke McManus Wraps Filming on ‘Homemade’ Short
17 Apr 2012 | Irish short ‘Homemade’ has wrapped filming at the Tea Rooms in the Phoenix Park in Dublin.

‘Homemade’ tells the story of pensioner Tommy Fogarty whose attempts at impressing his new lady friend go awry when a group of teenage girls set out to destroy his plans. The short is centred around a church cake sale, with ‘Father Ted’ actor Jim Norton (Bishop Brennan) playing lead character Tommy, and ‘The Clinic’ actress Deirdre Connolly portraying his potential love interest.

Ruth Rendell Thriller 'Thirteen Steps Down' Filming In Ireland
16 Apr 2012 | Contemporary TV thriller ‘Thirteen Steps Down’ is mid-way through a five week shoot on location in London and Dublin. Based on the Ruth Rendell novel, the two-part psychological thriller is being produced by Ireland’s Parallel Films under commission from ITV.

'Game of Thrones' Season Three Greenlit for Northern Ireland
12 Apr 2012 | Fantasy adventure ‘Game of Thrones’ will return to Northern Ireland's shores to film season three. The 10-part series has been given the greenlight for a third season following record ratings for season two. The popular HBO series will return to Paint Hall Studios in Belfast where seasons one and two filmed, as well as the new sound stages in Belfast and the Linen Mill Film Studios in Banbridge. The season two premiere grossed 8.3 million viewers, and is already expected to surpass season one’s ratings of 9.3 million.

New Bursary for Filmmakers & Scriptwriters
11 Apr 2012 | The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, the residential workplace for artists, has announced a new bursary for filmmakers and scriptwriters. The bursary will offer one successful applicant, or a pair collaborating on a project, the opportunity to use the Annaghmakerrig workplace in County Monaghan to work on projects for one week.

Galway Film Fair Application Deadline Approaching
11 Apr 2012 | The Galway Film Fair’s deadline for applications to take part in the Marketplace networking event is 11 May 2012. The Galway Film Fair will take place 13-14 July, as part of the Galway Film Fleadh 10-15 July. The Marketplace is an opportunity for producers of feature films or documentaries to network with industry professionals at pre-scheduled meetings. The Fair is calling on producers to submit projects before the deadline in order to be selected for the two-day event. Priority will be given to projects which have a finished screenplay and a percentage of development and/or production finance in place.

Parallel Films Developing 'Echo Chamber' For HBO

Fingal Festival Sets 2013 Submission Deadline
05 Apr 2012 | The Fingal Film Festival has set the deadline for submission for next year’s festival at 1 September 2012. Festival organisers are already prepping for 2013 having wrapped up a hugely successful three-day event last week. The festival held master classes for independent filmmakers with some if the industry’s leading experts, from Arthur Lappin (In America/Borstal Boy), who has over 25 years producing experience, to writer and director Aisling Walsh (Song for a Raggy Boy) to cinematographer Ciarán Tanham (Raw) and newcomer Martin McCann (Clash of the Titans).
