Gia Coppola’s ‘Palo Alto’ to open Fingal Film Festival

Sky Road TV & Film Festival Calls for Pitches for Documentary
29 Aug 2014 | In a unique and exciting opportunity, TG4 are offering aspiring filmmakers a chance to pitch their ideas to make a 25 minute documentary worth €25,000 at the inaugural Sky Road TV & Film Festival in Clidfen, Co. Galway. Participants will pitch to commissioning editors on stage at the Festival in either the Irish or English language.

5th Underground Cinema Film Festival Programme
26 Aug 2014 | The Underground Cinema has announced its line-up for the 5th Underground Cinema Film Festival, to be held in Dun Laoghaire from September 11th to 14th. Trailer for ‘’71’ Released
22 Aug 2014 | The official trailer for the highly-anticipated thriller ‘’71’ has been released. ‘’71’ stars Jack O’ Connell (‘Skins’, ‘Starred Up’) as a young British soldier who is accidentally abandoned by his unit during a riot in Belfast in 1971. Trapped for the night and unable to distinguish friend from foe, the soldier must survive alone and find a means of escaping.

‘Song of the Sea’ to have World Premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)
22 Aug 2014 | Song of the Sea’, the new animated feature film from Kilkenny-based studio Cartoon Saloon, and ‘Miss Julie’ starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain (see full story here), will both have their World Premieres at the internationally renowned Toronto International Film Festival next month.

IFI Stranger Than Fiction Documentary Film Festival this September
15 Aug 2014 | Featuring two world premieres and seven Irish premieres, the IFI Stranger than Fiction programme for 2014 includes a new film from Kim Longinotto, a profile of notorious Irish-American crime boss James ‘Whitey’ Bulger, a profile of the late, great film critic Roger Ebert and the world premiere of ‘Showrunners’ which reveals the writer/producer masterminds behind quality U.S television. There will be a host of Q+As with Irish and international guest directors and a series of industry special events presented in partnership with the Irish Film Board.

Irish Shorts at the GAZE LGBT Dublin Film Festival
29 Jul 2014 | Following the announcement of a ‘Best of Irish’ Double Bill to feature the Dublin premiere of ‘African Pride’ and an exclusive sneak peek at footage from ‘The Queen of Ireland’, GAZE continues to support Irish film and proudly presents another programme of LGBT shorts this year. 25 Jul 2014 | ‘Miss Julie’ makes its World Premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which runs from 4th to 14th September. Toronto is on a par with other premiere world film festivals such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin. The festival has a highly competitive selection process and is considered a great launch pad for the North American market.

21 Jul 2014 | ‘Let Us Prey’, directed by Brian O’Malley in his feature debut, had its Asian premiere at the recent 18th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. The horror film received its premiere on Saturday (19th July) night and will also screen later today and on the 25th July.
