Swing About
Irish based Orion Productions has confirmed that their latest Cork-filmed movie Swing Bout, is now available to Irish & UK audiences through digital download.

Directed by Maurice O’Carroll, the Swing Bout cast includes Ciara Berkeley, Ben Condron, Frank Prendergast, Chrissie Cronin, and Sinéad O’Riordan, who also serves as the film’s producer.

According to the synopsis: “Set behind the scenes of a major boxing event, Swing Bout explores the hidden pressures and brutal realities of life in the shadows of the spotlight. The story centres on a young boxer navigating a night of betrayal, manipulation, and gut-wrenching decisions — all unfolding between the dressing room and the ring walk.

Filmed entirely on location at Páirc Uí Chaoimh Stadium in Cork, the film’s title “swing bout,”refers to a placeholder fight used to fill unexpected gaps in a live boxing broadcast.

Speaking about the film’s release, writer-director Maurice O’Carroll said: “Swing Bout is a film that thrives on tension, character, and a relentless pace. We made it for cinema lovers who enjoy smart, high-stakes storytelling, and it’s been brilliant to see how audiences in Ireland responded. Now, I’m looking forward to sharing that experience with UK and international viewers.”

Speaking about the film, producer and actress Sinéad O’Riordan added: “The response in Ireland has been incredible—audiences really connected with Maurice’s story, the energy, and the emotional core of the film. This has always been a passion project, blending high-octane storytelling with genuine heart. Seeing it embraced so warmly at home has been deeply rewarding, and I’m hopeful UK audiences will feel that same spark. I’m immensely proud of our team’s dedication in bringing this film to life. Knowing it will now reach even more people is both thrilling and deeply humbling.”

Swing Bout will be available on Apple Tv, Amazon Prime and Google across Ireland and the UK from May 12, 2025.
