Having graduated from National University of Ireland, Galway with an Honours Degree in Mathematics and Economics, Pierce has worked within the Media Industry ever since. Always a keen innovator, Pierce was the founder of the live Stand-up Comedy Circuit in Ireland in the early ‘90s. He has kept a keen interest in comedy since those early days and has successfully developed the silent comedy series Fear an Phoist 1 & 2, which Abú Media produced for TG4. Fear an Phoist has had international success selling to markets as far away as Indonesia and throughout the Middle East. The Series has been in the past been nominated for the prestigious 2003 Montreaux Rose D’or Award and the Celtic Film and Television Festival “Young Peoples” Award in 2006.

Pierce has been CEO of Abú Media since its inception in January 2000.

In 2005 Pierce produced a 6 Part Drama Series called Teenage Cics, starring Gerard McSorley. This series was funded by the NIFTC & TG4 and was shortlisted for a “Best Drama” at the Smart telecom / VIP Television Award in April 2006. February 2006.

In 2010 Abú Media were awarded the CMF award for Best Documentary series for Mobs Mhericea and in 2011 Abú Media were awarded both an IFTA (Irish Film and Television Academy Award) and another Celtic Media Best Factual award for the landmark historical documentary series 1916 Seachtar na Cásca.

Pierce was also Producer/Director/Writer on a documentary about ex-Jockey Adrian Maguire who after a near fatal fall is now making a name for himself as a leading Horse-Trainer, ‘Tough of the Turf’.

Pierce is also the producer of An Klondike. First broadcast on TG4, the Irish Western television has won multiple IFTA awards and has been picked up by streaming services Netflix and Acorn TV.

Pierce is responsible for all international co-productions and acts as Executive Producer on most projects. Raising finance, sourcing co-producers, attending markets and working closely with the development team make him a key player in the Abú Media team. The company is also one of the leading 'dubbing facilities' in Ireland, producing over 250 hours of material each year, primarily children's animation and international documentary series.
