‘CrimeCall’, the new live crime detection and prevention programme makes its first transmission on the 28th of September at 10.10pm on RTE One.
The programme, produced by Coco Television, is presented by Daithi O’Se (of TG4) and RTE’s Brenda Power.
The series will focus on crime re-constructions (mini dramas), features and CCTV. The Gardai will play an onscreen presence, with some of their own “boys and girls in blue” presenting segments of the programme, and a bank of Gardai who will take calls from the public as the programme airs.
In the first month, ‘CrimeCall’ investigates the suspicious death of Arunos Gelzinis, a 42 year old Lithuanian man who was found dead in the Glen of the Downs last July. The father of two young daughters, Arunos was working in Ireland for a short time before deciding to return to his wife and family. He never made it home. Some other features throughout the series will look at drugs, drink driving, forensics and global crime through the Internet.
According to the producers the series promises to be “informative, dramatic, engaging, professional and energetic.”
Linda Cullen of Coco Television is the series Producer, (her credits include Cabin Fever, Treasure Island, House Hunters, House Hunters in the Sun, Our House, Rapid etc). Stuart Switzer is the Exec Producer, (credits also including Cabin Fever, Treasure Island, Rapid). Pat Cowap is the studio director (currently directing the Late Late show), Simon Gibney is the re-construction director and Hugh Farley is directing features.
‘CrimeCall’ runs for ten months, until next June, at 10.10 on the last Tuesday of every month.
