The Department of Creative Arts, Media and Music at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) has announced a new Training Partnership with Blackmagic Design.
Blackmagic Design creates the highest quality digital film cameras and video editing products, including the Emmy™ award-winning DaVinci Resolve post-production software.
BA (Hons) Film and Television Production Course Director Kevin Cunnane describes how DkIT’s use of Blackmagic Design products led to a Training Partnership: “We provide our students with access to an array of industry-standard equipment from Blackmagic Design including 4K MFT Studio, Ursa Mini and Pocket Cinema Cameras plus other hardware like studio recorders and video assist monitors.”
“Our Third Year Short Films and Fourth Year Major Projects use DaVinci Resolve for colour grading and finishing,” Cunnane continued. “Therefore I’m delighted to have forged an official relationship with Blackmagic Design to further opportunities for students of Dundalk Institute of Technology.”
A group of Lecturers who teach across BA (Hons) Film & Television Production, BA (Hons) Creative Media, and BA in Theatre and Film Practice all undertook an intensive Train-the-Trainer course to become Blackmagic Design Certified Trainers in DaVinci Resolve.
“We have expanded our teaching of DaVinci Resolve beyond colour grading to include video editing, sound editing, and visual effects,” added Cunnane, who is a Post Production Lecturer. “The partnership with Blackmagic Design offers significant opportunities to our students in the area of learning an industry recognised post-production software and proves DKIT’s commitment to ensure that our students are fully prepared for their roles in the film and television industry upon graduation.”
