Gréasán na Meán Skillnet Announces New Training Initiative - Acadamh Ros na Rún

Gréasán na Meán skillnet has this week announced a brand new, innovative TV Production training initiative, Acadamh Ros na Rún.

A highly innovative learning network for companies involved in all aspects of the Media and TV Production industry, Gréasán na Meán skillnet will deliver practical and theoretical on set training in association with TG4’s longest running soap opera, Ros na Rún. This new initiative will offer a high energy 8 week live, training programme from Tuesday, October 30th. It’s advanced, practical, and industry led TV Production training syllabus is certain to galvanise the passion of those seeking a career in Irish TV production.

Are you interested in getting behind the Camera,  learning the crucial art of Lighting, Sound, Production, Directing, Post Production and the Art  of TV making, well this is the training programme for you. In addition Acadamh Ros na Rún is also offering places for those wishing to learn the vital art of TV Make up Artistry, Wardrobe design for TV Soap and Drama. The training also delivers on the important business side of TV production with a practical programme on Production Accounts, keeping the budgets coupled with getting your TV Programmes storylines out to your key audiences with training in Strategic Social Media and Public Relations for TV programmes.

If you speak Irish and have the passion to work in TV and learn your required skill on a live working TV set at Ros na Rún in the coastal Connemara Gaeltacht Village of Spiddal in County Galway, this is the programme for you.

Successful candidates will train on average 4 days on the live, working TV production set of Ros na Rún shadowing highly established operators in their respective discipline. One day will be spent in the classroom on theory with visits from a series of guest speakers.

Speaking about the new initiative, Executive Series Producer of Ros na Rún, Siobhan Ní Ghadhra told IFTN:

“Acadamh Ros na Rún has been carefully designed based on our own practical experience at Ros na Rún over the past 23 seasons in close consultation with our broadcaster TG4 and Gréasán an Meán. Both as an Independent TV producer and supplier of the leading TG4 Soap opera we’ve found a shortage of highly skilled candidates for crucial roles in high quality TV Production who can deliver the skill to the Irish language broadcaster as Gaeilge. This training has been specifically designed to ensure that trainees will leave Acadamh Ros na Rún with high quality skillset which they can sell across all of Ireland’s Independent TV and Film Production sector.”
