Making the Cut



Screen Training Ireland and Garage Theatre Announce New January Course

Screen Training Ireland in association with The Garage Theatre is seeking participants for “Epic Stories”. This course will be delivered through a combination of masterclass in character and theme, with Q&A and film analysis.

It will provide guidance to writers and creatives when giving depth to stories for screen through the interrogation of character and arcs of transformation over the course of a story.

The Course begins on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 and takes place at the Garage Theatre, Monaghan.

The Cost is €120 and is a two day course – Saturday/Sunday.

Mary Kate O’Flanagan is an award-winning screenwriter and story consultant in the European film and television industry. She teaches screenwriting in The UK and The US, across Europe as well as in Ireland for Screen Training Ireland among others.

She has written six feature-length screenplays, five of which have been optioned and supported by funding from Bord Scannain/IFB and a pilot for a television series which won the EATC Prix Europa.

Mary Kate is Ireland’s First Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth, a title she won at The Abbey Theatre in October 2015. She is also The Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth in LA, a title she won in January 2017.

The course is aimed at Screenwriters wishing to improve their abilities, Producers, directors, script editors & those working in development, wishing to deepen their understanding of story and improve their skills in working with writers.

The Deadline for applications is January 5th
